I had two glasses of port wine last night at the movie theater?
I had never had it before and don’t know much about it, but I thought I’d try it. It was very good, but by the time I stood up to leave, I realized that I was very tipsy! Normally, two glasses of wine do nothing to me. What is the typical alcohol content of port? The kind I had was Messina Hoff Ebony of Ports. It’s a Texas winery. Not sure if that makes any difference, but I thought I’d throw that in.
I live near that winery.
Port Wine has a higher alcohol content that regular wine. This is caused by the addition of distilled grape spirits to fortify the wine and halt fermentation before all the sugar is converted to alcohol.
Port wine has an average alcohol content of about 18%, while regular wine on the average has about 13%.
