Telescope Focuser

Orion XT 8 Review

We all know that picking a telescope could be a pain in the ass, given many selections, features and so on. But take into account, whether you are a advanced astronomer, starter astronomy enthusiast or just want to have telescope for whole family, there are some things that need to be considered.

The first important thing, is the balance between cost effectiveness and result in your eyes. What do result in eyes means? Well, it is how the telescope give its result to your sight. It needs to be inexpensive enough, but still deliver peak performance quality possible. The next, is convenience level, you don’t want to have cheap, deliver well but hard to bring telescope, don’t you? A perfect telescope need to be not hard to take and assemble

From my experience and the right choice i ever made on deciding telescope, I highly recommend Orion Skyquest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope. Yet another Newtonian Telescope? Okay, we all know that there were much alt-azimuth mounted Newtonian telescopes, but this Orion XT8 is not same. It is easy to use, affordable and very precise.

This Dobsonian Telescope providing clean balance of resolution, light gathering and don’t forget our most important thing, it is really cheap! It is tiny enough to conveniently thrown anywhere at any event whenever could for sight seeing, yet it is large enough to keep you happy observing, like for long time. Result for observing are really good too, you can see both planets in our system and still works well enough to observe light coloured nebulaes

Features? Honestly, I am not a fans of “th1s haz gr8 fitahs!! U buy now!” Like I told, the most important thing is the equilibrium between the price and what the telescope  really deliver.Since you persisted, okay, here is the options

Orion XT8 main features

  • A large aperture Classic Dobsonian reflector telescope at a very cheap price!
  • 8″ length reflector optics lets you analyze the moon and planets in close up detail, and has enough light gathering to pull in great views of faint nebulas, galaxies and star clusters
  • A high rated  Dobsonian telescope that can last long long time for the whole family or any astronomy hobbyist
  • The ultra-stable Dobsonian base keeps the reflector optical tube perfectly balanced for point-and-view ease of use
  • Includes a 2″ Crayford focuser that accepts 1.25″ and 2″ telescope eyepieces, a 25mm Sirius Plossl eyepiece, an EZ Finder II reflex sight, collimation cap, Starry Night software, and more!

Orion XT8 Mount

  • Altitude and azimuth bearings:  The azimuth bearing uses Teflon bearing pads for equally silky “stiction-free” horizontal motion. The altitude bearings rest in ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene pads for simple vertical motion.
  • Dobsonian mount: The base has a accesible carry handle. The particle board Dobsonian telescope altazimuth mount base has a triangular ground board (rather than circular) to decrease the weight of the base to only 20.7 pounds.  The assembly process takes about 30 minutes and requires no special tools. The base is shipped disassembled and needs to be assembled only once, unless you disassemble it to save area for long-term storage.
  • CorrecTension balance system: With the CorrecTension system, you can alter eyepieces or add a Barlow lens without having to hold the tube in place in altitude by hand or tediously adjust the telescope’s balance with counterweights as you do with other Dobsonians when the eyepiece weight changes. This is particularly important with this scope, given its ability to use heavy 2″ eyepieces. The dual spring tension system applies the correct level of tension to the altitude bearings to balance the weight of different eyepieces.
